It’s been a few months now since I first started toying with idea of relaunching Coisa. I felt like it was time to take the next step and expand upon my original idea. I have always been fascinated by interesting, creative and unique ideas, I have a great deal of respect for people who dare to do things just that little bit different. With that in mind, I decided to focus more on these things that fascinate me and to use Coisa as a platform for sharing these interesting ideas.

I'm preparing a really cool post about Orienta Vida, an amazing organization led by Maria Celeste Chad.

Today I went to a tea workshop and I discovered I was totally clueless about it. I did not know that the white, green and black tea come from the same plant, camellia sinensis.
I also did not know that the herbal tea (leaves/flowers/fruit/herbs), is called infusion. It's like a new world for me!

I would like to say a big thank you to Teakettle's staff, Sylvia Rodrigues & Luis Fernando Rodrigues, and to Marcia Araujo (psychologist and art therapist), responsible for this delightful workshop!

I like to try different types of tea, every time I travel I always get some, (even tough I'm a coffee person) and I just found this French brand called Løv Organic . I did not know but løv, in Scandinavia, means leaf. Løv Organic is inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle, they have a line of organic products, fruit of the combination of innovative recipes and wonderful eco-designed packages. Just lovely!

Today I had the pleasure of lunching at this very neat bakery called Praça dos Pães (in English, it would be bread square)

This place has everything, different types of bread (white/ brown/sesame) , different types of cakes and cupcakes, handmade panettones, but what really caught my attention was the salad buffet, just perfect!

Ps. the service is great, the staff is really friendly and helpful!

Praça dos Paes is located in Mooca, a traditional neighborhood known by its Italian references.

Barcelona food culture

I always like discovering small, new places that really make an effort to add that little extra when it comes to the more simple things in life, like getting a cup of coffee or enjoying a nice meal. It's even more fun to discover places while travelling, you can learn a lot about a culture and its people. While in Barcelona, I came across a few amazing places and there are a couple that stood out.

Chelo is a small, charming coffee place situated on the beautiful Plaza Vicenc Martorelli. For what it lacks in size, it makes up in quality with great coffee and sandwiches. It's the perfect place to sit back and relax after touring the beautiful streets of El Raval.

Lilipep is a great place, hidden in a tiny side street in the El Born neighbourhood. The only way you'll find it is either by knowing where to look or stumbling upon it while being lost.

BarcelonaReykjavik is an amazing bakery full of freshly baked bread using only the finest ingredients, focusing on the art of making bread.

Although Barcelona has plenty of great restaurants (and tapas bars!) Carmelitas is one that stood out for me. It's not expensive, the atmosphere is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. All ingredients are sourced from the local market and farmers and the menu will often depend on what is available at the market.

Buffet Van Odette is a cute little place in Amsterdam where you can have a really nice breakfast/meal or just get a coffee and chill. At Buffet Odette you will find croissants, creamy yogurts, omelets, homemade soups, quiches, pastas, cakes, fresh shakes and sandwiches from early morning to late afternoon. Everything is made using carefully selected organic ingredients from local farms.
I simply love this place, it's one of my favourites in Amsterdam.

Last year I had the opportunity to meet this great photographer, back then I got impressed with his work, but this year, to me more specific this month I got to know him better and what I have to say is that Paulo Vicente has a huge talent and he's extremely generous in any aspect of his life, what made me respect him and his work even more.
Paulo gets a lot of inspiration from Otto Stupakoff, a pioneering fashion photographer here in Brazil.
Right now Paulo is working on two awesome designs, (he did not let me photograph yet) but I will keep you posted!

A Green Holiday Guide

I've been following Kokua Hawaii Foundation for a while and I decided to post here about these 12 steps towards a green holiday!

1) When buying a Christmas tree, consider live potted trees that you can keep
2) Avoid junk mail lists to save paper, trees and our climate
3) Reduce party waste by choosing reusables instead of single use plates and utensils when hosting your holiday party
4) Give teachers, co-workers, and friends edible gifts, plants, or gift certificates instead of stuff that will get stuck in a drawer somewhere
5) Start an eco-friendly holiday tradition, when you go out caroling in your neighborhood, take an empty trash bag and pick up any litter you see along the way
6) Reuse wrapping paper or use newspaper, paper bags and maps for gift wrapping.
7) Use energy efficient LED lights to light up your home or tree
8) Create holiday cards from reusable materials or send paperless greetings via e-mail.
9) Organize a Secret Santa gift exchange, instead of buying gifts for all of your friends, family, coworkers, etc.
10) Give three gifts of time (for example, certificates for ukulele lessons, concert tickets or a massage) instead of buying items.
11) When shopping for holiday food and gifts, try to plan ahead and consolidate trips in order to save fuel and reduce pollution. Also, don't forget to take along your reusable cloth grocery bags to use instead of the disposable ones.
12)During the holiday season the most rewarding gift of all is giving back to your community. Make it a family tradition to donate to or volunteer for charitable causes during the holidays

Yesterday I had the pleasure to attend one of the best concerts I've ever seen!

First Guizado, a Brazilian jazz quartet led by the trumpetist Guilherme Mendonça, a dope mix of jazz with electronic music.

After that, José James with all his soul, jazz and hip hop took to the stage with his amazing band consisting of Marc Cary (piano), Chris Smith (bass) and Adam Jackson (drums). And as if that wasn't enough, great names such as Taylor McFerrin and trumpetist Eddie Henderson joined the party!
